Kehilanu: Helping Israel Heal
Nearly 40% of Israelis suffer from trauma in the wake of the October 7th attacks and its aftermath.
Not surprisingly, the existing mental health system cannot meet the overwhelming need.
OUR MISSION: To respond to Israel’s pervasive mental health crisis with easily accessible mental health services for all Israelis suffering from trauma and to shift the trauma experience from one of isolation to one of connection, mutual support, and collective healing.
By combining the power of customized support groups with trauma informed community building (TICB) activities, Kehilanu will advance individual, communal, and national healing.
Kehilanu is an innovative therapeutic model characterized by the following:
- High capacity to treat the high volume of trauma
- Inclusive, easily accessible, and stigma-free with no formal diagnosis required
- Safe gathering spaces to foster ongoing social connections that continue even after support groups finish and reinforce long-term healing
- Addresses both emotional and social dimensions of healing
